Dutch painter who worked in Rotterdam en The Hague and surroundings. Was a self-taught man and started his professional career in 1892. Painted, drawed and made watercolours of harbours, riverviews, cityscapes and workers in the polder. Received the Academy Award (Rotterdam) in 1897, de gold medal on the exposition in Munich 1901 en the Royal Medal in 1914. Was a member of several artist’s societies.
