Johannes Evert Akkeringa

(Blinjoe (Banka) 1861-1942 Amersfoort)

One of Akkeringa's favourite subjects was the crowded outlets or tea gardens, which were located on the outside of The Hague and which were frequented especially during the weekend. From 1904, Akkeringa made a series of intimate leafy tea gardens and tea hour scenes, often entitled "Tea Drinking" or "In the Tea Garden".
