Henri Lebasque was a French post-impressionist painter. He moved to Paris in 1886, where he started studying under Léon Bonnat and assisted Ferdinand Humbert with the decorative murals at the Panthéon. He met Camille Pissarro and Auguste Renoir, who would have a large impact on Lebasques work. Young painters as E, Vuillard and P. Bonnard of the Nabis-group, had a great influence on Lebasque, as well as G. Seurat and P. Signac (in color theory). Lebasque was a founding member of the Salon d’Automne in 1903 with his friend Henri Matisse.
