Bosch Reitz left for Japan around 1900. He was interested in Chinese and Japanese antiques and ceramics. From the German-Czech artist Emil Orlik (1870-1932) he learned the technique of printing woodcuts. How Bosch Reitz intent himself in the culture of the country is evident from his diaries. Mainly the feeling for attention and beauty in the art and culture of Japan, spoke to Bosch Reitz. The love for the art of the country also continued to exist on return. Bosch Reitz became a member of the Paris club 'Les Amis de l'Art Japonais'.
